Monty Lo Hydroguard : Brown/Olive

Glad they recommended going a half size large because these are a snug fit even a half size large.

They are comfortable but I the quality seems somewhat so so. The heel isn’t very sturdy. Lots of fraying and loose stitching after only a month. Fairly disappointing in that regard. I haven’t even been on trails with them yet as it’s been muddy and I didn’t want to muck them up immediately

I ordered these shoes when they were announced in 2021, before I needed a new pair of shoes. They looked cool online and I wanted to support a fledgling company launching a product that I liked. When the shoes arrived 7 months later, I was enamored with the look and comfort. I put them on my shoe rack and wore them once every few months.

Last month, my old Merrells finally wore out and I began wearing these daily, with light regular activity.

In a matter of a few weeks, a small hole opened up in the suede over the right pinky toe area. There was no trauma - cut, puncture, ollying (even if I still skated it would be on the other foot), anything like that - just weak material. Within two days, the hole grew to a gaping slit over 1" long, just from the flex of wearing the shoes. Now the internal plastic-like layer has broken through as well. Only the interior lining is keeping me from seeing right through to my toe. The stitching work is poor in places as well, with long black threads poking out from the seams on multiple aspects of both shoes. As you can see from the pictures, other than the manufacturing defects, the shoes are otherwise still in very good condition.

I was shocked at how poorly these shoes lasted through a FEW WEEKS of cumulative light use. Not at all the quality and durability that I would expect from a "trail" shoe.

Overall - great look, glad you brought back the old school gum sole skate shoe with a boutique brand that was supposed to be rugged - but the pair I got were pure junk. Maybe the quality issue has been fixed since the initial launch. Either way, this experience has cured me of being an early adopter of new apparel products.

Great shoes! Durable, comfortable, all-weather appropriate and look great! What more could you want?! These are my second pair, because I loved the first ones so much that I wanted more colors. I’m comfortable in a half size larger than I usually wear.

This is my 3rd pair of Ridgemonts Monty Lo.
Their style wears with almost everything, work clothes, going out, walking the dog..I am a convert.
For comfortable and shower proof walking-hiking-trainer-cum-shoe, while they are available you'd be a fool to overlook them.
The pair in the image I uploaded are nearly 12 months old, and I wear them everyday.

For me these shoes are comfortable and true to fit. Their exterior appears well made, however areas inside the shoe were not so good in regards to the attachment of the liner to the shoe. If I had seen the shoes prior to purchase, I’d have given them a wide berth. However in all honesty I couldn’t be bothered to send them back. Other than the liner issue, the shoes are actually okay, although because of the shoddy build quality, not worth the suggested retail price.

First time wearing Ridgemont. Overall love these shoes. Wear them almost daily and they are holding up nicely. Will likely order another color as I like the gray quite a lot. Nice leather and fabric. My feet are a little more narrow, so I find myself tightening the laces a bit more. One criticism: Black rubber on the bottom of the heel needs a little stronger adhesive bond. Great shoes overall! Comfortable for urban and light trail use. Nice soft sole. Feels well made.

I've only worn these once so far. They are pretty robust build quality and plenty of lacing. Will need to break them in, but seem quite equal to a pair I replaced them with, but these look more trendy!

Love the looks of the shoes, It fits just right and I am wearing slight thick socks at the moment (it’s winter!). Have to say the sole feels stiff, but I guess over time it will start to mold to my feet. Have been wearing it for about 10 days now and walked about 5 km each day.

I bought the 1st pair on a whim as I like a long lasting well made trainer/walking shoes both for casual walking and sometimes for work. So far they have been comfortable for long periods of wearing and walking so much so I bought a second pair. Even better taking advantage of the sales at the moment. I’d certainly recommend getting a pair to anyone who has sustained periods of being on their feet.

My third pair of Ridgemounts: these are water resistant, superbly comfortable and look smart

Impressive how good looking is is and very comfortable to walk.

These are awful, the toe box is smaller than the heel. If I didn’t buy a final sale item I would have returned them but in this case I’ll only get store credit and that’s of no use

This is my 8th pair of Monty Lo's and I love them. It's my work shoe and casual shoe. They take a beating and always look great! Wish the were made in USA!

This is my second pair of Monty Lo's. I own four pairs of Ridgemont shoes — two Monty Lo's and two Outback II's — and they are some of the most comfortable shoes I have owned or currently own. On the sizing, I have tried both 11.5 and 12 sizes, and they have fit just fine. I typically wear either size, depending on the shoe manufacturer; for example, I wear a 11.5 in Vans shoes. So, sizing probably depends more on whether you have a narrow or wide foot. Regardless, these are some great shows and I highly recommend them!

I have been wedded to Ridgemont footwear for the past 8 years since my first pair of extremely comfortable boots. Over that time, a couple of pairs have had problems but the service to rectify these has always been very good. This time, I am delighted with the fit and comfort, and am wearing them to walk miles; so far I have every expectation they will withstand this hard wear and give a great service whilst looking good.
